+<p>The value of <i>tile</i> is a &lsquo;&lsquo;raw tile
+number.&rsquo;&rsquo; That is, the caller must take into
+account whether or not the data are organized in separate
+planes (<i>PlanarConfiguration</i>=2).

+converting an (x,y,z,sample) coordinate quadruple to a tile
